June Virtual Scrapbook Pajama Party

This is the lo I made while playing along at the Scraps Of Color Monthly Online Scrapbook Pajama Party  I really did try to follow the sketch, but as usual I veered from it a bit...well a LOT!  LOL  The hostess, Tiare also made a card from the leftover paper.  Since I was using mostly scraps anyway I did not make a card.

Title: Sweet dreams are made of...food
Journaling: Dugan loves food so much I bet he even thinks about eating when he is sleeping.  I often say "My guy lives for FOOD"
Materials: scrap pp and cs, bone buttons, paw print ribbon, thickers, glitter pen, zig marker, colorbox chalk ink.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

My Black is Beautiful Challenge 16

This was a challenge that I started last year on the SOC .ning site.  I am STILL working my way through the prompts.  The prompt was hobbies.  I chose to only scrap one...SCRAPBOOKING!  I am not so sure that scrapbooking is a hobby as much as it has become a way of life.  My digital camera must be about to go to the digital camera graveyard...so sorry for the blurry pictures lately.

Materials: scrap paper, scrap congregated card board, ribbon and flowers from stash, pin from a swap, EK Success border punch, dollar store butterflies, brads, bling, black pitt pen, brown zig pen, white gel pen, gold glitter pen, walnut stain distress ink, colorbox chalk ink, alphabet stamps

Sentiment: My beautiful BLACK is being...Addicted to Scrapbooking

This was also entered in First Fridays Chat Challenge:  Where I used the posted sketch as a guideline and included a fold.  My title on the pp dictated that I alter the sketch to suit my vision for the lo.  Rarely am I able to follow a sketch exactly.  Even when I draw out a sketch of the project in my head by the time I finish the project doesn't resemble the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Wednesday

My Black is Beautiful Challenge # 6

This was a challenge that I started last year.  It seem that I am always making scrapbooks for others.  The goal was to use the prompts to complete a album about me.  No promises, but here is my attempt to get back to finishing this project.  The prompt was "My Feet"

I have been not feeling so great, but wanted to craft.  So, I spritzed a background on card stock and got in bed.  I doodled.  This was inspired by a digital lo I saw in the scrapbook.com gallery.  "The sentiment: My black is having my toes painted. I (heart) my...SWEET FEET"

Sorry for the blurry pictures lately, my camera must be dying.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Friday

Top five

A recent challenge asked bloggers to list their top five favorite tools.  My favorites change around a bit.  But right now I like:

  1. The ATG  I received it in a RAK.  It is supposed to look like Hello Kitty (LOL)
  2. Scotch Quick dry glue
  3. We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper
  4. Fiskars cutter
  5. Cuttle Bug
Sistah Brotha Blogger Challenge #17

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

30 minute challenge

This was the challenge:
Create a bookmark that must include:
a) Cardstock
b) Three patterned papers

Here is what I came up with :

This is a corner bookmark.  The third pattern is on the back.  The beads are from my stash and the papers are scraps.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Tuesday

Another Friday Night Chat Challenge

I saw these type of cards at a craft show I went to back in the 80's.  I have been meaning to make my own, but I forgot all about the craft.  I bet all crafters have a pile of unused ideas lol.  When I saw this note card in the Scraps of Color Gallery I was inspired.  Guess what?  I still didn't make the craft.

Then we were issued this challenge in the FNC (Friday Night Chat): Challenge 4) Create a scraplifted layout or card from a picture in the SOC gallery. You must include a link to the inspiration picture and post the reason why you selected the picture.

I scraplifted Patricia Stuart.  I have not had the chance to chat with her, but you can view her blog here.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Monday

Friday Night Chat Challenge

I have not played along in a Friday Night Chat challenge on the Scraps of Color .ning site in so long.  The challenges usually require you to make something in 30 minutes.

Challenge1: Create an Easter card and you must include all of the following:
a) The color pale or mint green
b) Ribbon
c) Glitter

I do not do many Easter cards so this was a challenge for me.  Papers are all scraps from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Sunday

Gimme' a kiss!

I decided to do another challenge from the Scraps of Color .ning site.  This time we had to make a wish list.  My Christmas wish list:
  1. To be healthier physically, mentally and spiritually
  2. to have enough money to be a philanthropist (all my craft buddies get craft room makeovers -lol)
  3. to have a kitchen and bathroom ADA makeover
  4. for my dog to stop itching
  5. for my family and friends to live joyfully and PEACEfully
  6. for God to shower protection, wisdom, salvation and blessings upon the children & the families in my circle

The one thing I really want, is a matehusbandlifepartner preferably chocolate, rich and sweet...

I guess these will have to do until the Lord sends me my dream man.   hahahahaha

They are chocolate, rich, and sweet!

These are Hershey's kiss candy holders that I made for my former co-workers.  I hope they like them.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

O' Holy Night!

On the SOC .ning site I entered a challenge to blog about a Christmas song or movie and create a craft to go with my choice.  O' Holy night is my favorite Christmas Song.  I especially like the part: Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices! O night divine, the night when Christ was born; O night, O Holy Night , O night divine! O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!

I made these dishcloth/potholder angels.  I plan to give them as gifts.

I really love this song any time of the year.
Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Tuesday

Feed the birds...

Ever since I met my friend and former co-worker Gina I stopped saying "kill two birds with one stone", she got me saying  "stop the killing...let's feed two birds with one piece of corn".  She said it and it just made sense.  So, I played along in the Friday Night Challenge on the Scraps Of Color .ning site.  Challenge one: use all brown tones on a card.  Challenge two: scraplift a project in the gallery and make a card.  Here is my version of feeding the birds...I did one card to satisfy the rules of both challenges.  I scraplifted my online scrap buddy Cynta (Thanks for the inspiration).

Sentiment: Proverbs 17:17 A friend loves at all times.

This card was made from all scraps.

This card was also entered in Word Art Wednesday Challenge #46

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Thursday

More hand drawn postcards

I have been seeing doodles and pictures in magazines and drawing them.  Here are two postcards that I made. I used scraps to make these.

These look like the birds from the Partridge Family Television Show

I plan to color these postcards before I use them.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Wednesday

Art Journal Page

I feel like praising, praising Him! (singing).  And since you can't hear me...I sound great, just like an opera singer!(lol)  I made this page using a old church program that I have been keeping for years.  Even before I started art journaling I would keep things with the intention of using them somehow.

Psalm 146:1 Praise ye the Lord.  Praise the Lord O my soul.

This page is also used for:
Word art Wednesday
Use your leftovers challenge on the SOC .ning site.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Wednesday

Friday night chat challenge #3

In between the challenges the hostess usually gives trivia questions.  This time the subject was Harriet Tubman.  The final challenge was related to Harriet Tubman.  We had 45 minutes to complete this challenge.  I had a bit of trouble with my photo printer, but I still only allowed myself about 45 minutes after I got the photos printed.  Challenge #3: Make a 6 x 6 or 8 x 8 layout using antique, distressed or vintage colors, some ribbon, a piece of news print (or antique-type writing; scribble) and a historical fact about Harriet Tubman.

I did not adhere to the requirements, but I just felt like doing some art journaling.  Actually, I was so frustrated after the printer woes...I just did my own thing.

Here is a social justice warrior then and now...

Materials: water color paper, gesso, acrylic paint, masking tape, stamp, rub ons, water color, glimmer screens, white opaque pen, colorbox chalk ink, black pen SU

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Tuesday

The second 30 minute challenge

I actually won a little prize for this project.  Yay me!!  I like how the hostess did a play on words (flour-flower).  The second challenge: Make a recipe card with FLOUR as one of the ingredients using textured paper, bold colors and an altered flower. (You can paint, chalk or distress it).

Materials:
Scrap pp
corrugated colored card board
recipe card
ribbon from stash
fuzzy brad
paper clip (folded into a heart shape)
flower
glimmer mist
stickles
bic mark it pens
colorbox chalk ink
sakura souffle pen
wood stamp(living the sweet life)

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Monday

Another Friday night...

...spent home alone.  So, I played along in the Friday Night Chat Challenge on the SOC .ning site.  There is a challenge issued every 30 minutes.

The hostess was going with the 'flower' theme, since it is almost Spring.  The first challenge: Make a card using a 3-D flower, bling, ribbon or lace with a “Get Well” sentiment.

I realized that I didn't have any 'get well' stamps.  Hmmmm now to remedy that (LOL).

Materials:
cs
flower from swap
bling
glitter glue
ribbon from stash
inkssentials opaque pen

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Sunday

My Black is Beautiful Challenge #4

LIPS are the topic of next challenge. This poem is written using the slow journaling technique. The pattern of the paper just lent itself to this type of journaling.

Spoken Word by Tina Riley
My LIPS spit surreal sentences
Verbalizing virtuous verses
Speaking spectacular speeches
Formulating prophetic, philosophical phrases
Chanting charismatic comments
Telling tongue twisting truths
Casting out confusion with concepts so compelling it convicts crowds

"I will open my mouth in Parables..."  Matthew 13:35a

Anointed LIPS...
With sweetness like the honey comb
Filled with Love's language
and milk and honey under my tongue
Smooth like a scarlet silk sash
My LIPS are lovely...
Adapted from Song of Solomon

DARE I SAY...My LIPgloss be poppin'
erotic forehead kisses
cheek smooches
sensuous
comforting
healing
soft
sweet

LIPS SO LUSCIOUS
sweet like flower's nectar
the carrier of my souls laughter
lipstick's favorite canvas
ready to greet with a kiss of charity

Monday

My Black is Beautiful Challenge 3

For this challenge we had to do a lo about our hair.  I have had many hairstyles during my life, but I love my hair now.  I wear locs and for me nothing compares to having natural, chemical free hair.  I love being a black woman, there are so many different things I can do with my hair.  A couple of years ago I cut my locs real short after growing them since 2004.  It became difficult to maintain long hair with my medical conditions and physical limitations.  I have been enjoying every stage of my hair journey.  Although my hair is getting long again, I do not think I will cut it this time.  I pray for the strength to maintain it well.  Here is the lo I made:

I made the collage a while ago as an exercise in learning to embrace all parts of me.  I can recall having love notes to myself posted all over my apartment.  I am fearfully and wonderfully made...but finally my soul does know it right well.

Journaling:

I am not my hair
I love my hair
Beautiful hair
Sexy is my hair
Curly is my hair
Natural is my hair
Healthy is my hair
Thank God for my hair
I am not my hair
I love my hair

Materials:
Collage
cs
ribbon

Thursday

Another Vintage Woman ATC

I posted this one for the vintage woman ATC challenge also.

The bling may not be visible, but believe me the hat has major blingage (LOL)

I cannot recall where I got this image.

The paper was found at a second hand store...I think it is wallpaper.  I just like the dimensions of the pattern.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.
