Mini Album

Here is a mini made from one sheet of double sided paper.  My friend Kathy holds a crop in her home every Thursday.  One of the ladies there demonstrated how to make this mini.  Kathy supplied the paper and Mary the instructions.  We all tried it and loved the project. Thanks ladies!

It is bound with a piece of card stock and the tags were cut on the Cricut.

Friend of a friend

I made three one page paper bag albums for my friend.  One for each of the three dogs she has had in her adult life.   She liked them so much that she asked me to make an album for her friend.    The photos she sent fit better in a different kind of mini album.  This is what I came up with:

front cover

back cover

It is a 6 x 6 mini made from one sheet of card stock.  The way it folds it actually sits up like a picture frame.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Mini file folder tag album

So I had scraps left over from cutting down 12 x 12 file folders to standard size.  I made this tag album which I learned from Inkwell's (Dede) USTREAM show.

each tag it tied with fibers/fabric. The cover is fabric
ribbon binding with beads and shells

closure with elastic and button

each file folder has four pockets and flips out.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come again soon.

Saturday

collaged tags

I made these tags for a mini album.  In addition to paper or fabric I am attempting to use paint on my collage pieces.  I plan to keep practicing.

I used scrap pieces of paper, washi tape, (red, black, silver and white) acrylic paint.  I tied scrap fibers and fabric onto each tag (that will be shown in the next post- with the finished tag album).

Also entered in the SOC sistah/brotha blogger's challenge #7.   It is a color challenge.

Note pad folio

Where oh where can my scrapping mojo be?  In an attempt to find it I watched Shannon Green's video.  I decided to art along with the video so I hit the pause button  and dragged all my scrap supplies for this project into my office.  See my craft room/classroom and office are on opposite sides of the house.  I have a desktop computer in my office and I spend a great deal of time on the computer and NOT in my craft room creating.  I think when the technology gods bestow upon me a laptop the problem will be better and I can spend more time in the craft room(LOL).  I digress...here is what I made:

back signature & pad holder pocket

This project was really cool there was only about a 2 inch strip of trash paper and it did not take long to make.  I loved sewing/binding the book together.  It just felt good to create the project.  Thank you so much for the inspiration Shannon.  Although the paper is colorful it is begging for me to add flowers, lace and girly stuff, but I may not embellish it and give it to a guy.

Materials:
2 sheets 12 x 12 doubled sided paper(TH)
2 signatures
1 piece of scrap paper
waxed linen thread
pen

Encouragement book from 1 piece of 12 x12 paper

An online scrap buddy, Deltra, sent a video to me about making this mini.  It is kind of straight forward, a precursor to the TP roll mini.  The dimensions were a little bit unclear so in an effort to share the correct dimensions with my friend I decided to make the mini along with the video.  I used all scraps and products from my stash.  The 12 x 12 piece of paper was already cut and sent to me a while ago in a RAK- Thanks Trina!  I decided to make this for my girlfriend who is having a rough time right now.  I know the scriptures and encouraging sentiments will feed her spirit.  God promises that His word "...it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."  Isaiah 55:11

Summer would not be complete without my little guy, DUGAN.  I made the toilet paper roll mini for him.  It is vertical and each page has a tag.

I may add some ribbon to the top of the album and some more embellishments.  This was fun to make because it is crafting, but mostly becuse DUGAN is so darn cute. Do I sound biased? lol

Father's Day Mini Album

My friend Nancy had a smilebox on her blog  and I thought that was a great idea for sharing this mini I made for my father.  I did not grow up with my dad in my life, so I thought that this mini would give him a little snipet about me and my world.  He lives in Alabama and we rarely get to visit.  We have reconnected since I have become an adult.  I hope he likes the gift.

Very Creative Student

Here is what one student designed in a recent "All About Me" mini album class.  She was introduced to several techniques.  She designed most of the pages herself and got to use many tools that she had never used before.   The album is designed to sit up like an easal on a table or to be tied closed with a robbon.  There are 6 pages/surfaces made from 1 sheet of card stock.

inked edges, double matting, different handwriting styles

adding more photos by using a folded mat

the tree is stamped and the names of all her siblings are written on popped up circles.  She is represented by the little bird.  I thought this was clever!

She likes to cook and helped to make this dish. Looks yummy!

Wednesday

Sample Mini Album

I teach a scrap booking class to teens.  I wanted an idea to encourage a positive self outlook, get them celebrating and examining who they are, while learning some basics about scrap booking.  So, the class project is an "All About Me" mini (6x6) album.  Look for student projects in future posts.  Here is the sample mini I made for the class:

Spice Tag Album

I have been making a spice basket for my friend for over a year now...confession may be good for the soul, but I just feel horrible that I have not finished the project.  She asked me to go with her to the store and show her what spices to buy and what they are used for.  I got the bright idea of making a basket of spices to give her.  I have repurchased these dry spices over and over...lol   I made this tag album to go in the basket.

 Materials:
Binding (zip ties)
recycled acetate packaging
alcohol inks
black stazon ink
Hero Arts stamp

Each page/tag highlights a different spice and how to use it.  the paper is TPC Studios, card stock, colorbox chalk ink, inksentials white gel pen, glossy accents.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you come back soon.
