Fairy flower

OH MY...these are so stinkin' cute.  I watched my fellow artie, ArteDar do a USTREAM Show.  Her niece, Leslie did a tutorial for these fairy flowers.  Leslie has so many styles and they are so cute. I made this one along with the show.

I added some tulle to my skirt since my flower was so shallow.  I didn't have any leaves on my flower so I used felt for the wings.  This was a fun project.  I may add some more to her: stickles on the wings, a wand and a crown.  Then she will be all set to hang up lol.

The second 30 minute challenge

I actually won a little prize for this project.  Yay me!!  I like how the hostess did a play on words (flour-flower).  The second challenge: Make a recipe card with FLOUR as one of the ingredients using textured paper, bold colors and an altered flower. (You can paint, chalk or distress it).

Another Friday night...

...spent home alone.  So, I played along in the Friday Night Chat Challenge on the SOC .ning site.  There is a challenge issued every 30 minutes.

The hostess was going with the 'flower' theme, since it is almost Spring.  The first challenge: Make a card using a 3-D flower, bling, ribbon or lace with a “Get Well” sentiment.

I realized that I didn't have any 'get well' stamps.  Hmmmm now to remedy that (LOL).

What a find!

I found these beautiful Christmas Cacti on clearance.  I couldn't believe the sticker, so I asked the clerk to check the price.  He came back and confirmed that the plants were marked down to $1.00.  Whooo Hoooo!  I used them as party favors.

Of course I brought one for me to. (LOL) A lady from my church gave me a piece of her Christmas Cactus many years ago.  It is still in a small clay pot.  It grows so slow.  The plant is very sturdy...as I have knocked it out of the window sill several times and it keeps on kicking.  It blooms lovely pink flowers every December.  I hope these large ones do as well.

Crocheted flowers

I have been crocheting for some time off and on.  Mostly blankets, afghans, and scarfs.  I even teach basic stitches and how to make hair accessories to the girls in my neighborhood.  So why in the world had I never tried making flowers?  I have watched a few tutorials, but I found this project too complicated and overwhelming.  Then my online friend posted a video and the flowers that she made.  So, I am awake at 2a.m. trying this project.  Once I got the hang of it, I just kept making them.  Here are my results.

These are her flowers.  They are lovely!

Flowers, flowers, flowers and more flowers

Fabric flowers.  I made some for a flower swap.  I used the remnant fabric to make these.  The center is just a small elastic wrapped around a brad.  The original called for 5 x 5 square of fabric folded three times into a triangle.  Cut out a flower shape (free hand) and a 18 mm brad.  I made these with 2", 3" and 4" pieces of fabric and smaller brads.

These are just paper flowers.  The stems are made with glitter paper.  I originally planned to put a tiny photo in the center; for a 6 x 6 page swap.  Hmmmmmm...what now? 

These are just lace flowers. I am still looking for the ideal center. They look sort of vintage. Stuff in my stash just didn't work.
